how to make rock candy

This was a fun project that i did last year just for fun. It was good too. :-) The picture shows the kind that you can get in the store. I don't make them as good as they did like with the colors but mine were okay.
Supplies/Ingredients -
2 cups of water
3 cups sugar
1/4 cups corn syrup
food coloring (opt)
flavoring (0pt)
pencil
paper clip
string
jar

1. Boil a pot of water on the stove. Tie one end of the string to the pencil. Then clip the string so that it's about 1 cm from the bottom. Tie on the paper clip.
2. Wet the string, and roll it in sugar. Put in the sugar and corn syrup into the boiling water and stir it. You can add coloring and flavoring. Then pour the boiling mix in to the jar. Leave an inch at the top. (forgot to say, don't put the pencil in when you're pouring. It'll be messy)
3. Don't refrigerate it. Leave it out in like a window sill. Watch it till it grows crystals.
Good luck!

asian Foods! part 1?

This is one of the nastiest stuff ever. It's green tea candy. Along with the red ginseng candy, it tops the list.

really nasty. I can't believe
anyone can swallow that stuff
and that the company is still
in business.

really good. It's dried lotus root. Sugared.
I just couldn't find a picture of the sugared stuff so
i just put this up

really good candy. It's called white rabbit.

This stuff is amazing! It's called pocky. It's like these sticks
dipped in this syrup/yogurt/
different topping thingy. I just
love it! It comes in all kinds of
flavors like: strawberry, blueberry,
green tea, and like 30 others!

Okay so the next picture is of a candy called haw. It's made of a hawthorn root and it's really good. It's sweetened and it's really nice.

Okay. This is one that some people like and some people don't. It's really good. It's basicly like saurkraut with lots of spice on it. But it's better than saurkraut! It's really good. I like it. It's eaten on rice and other foods. It's like the korean's ketchup.

Sushi! It's really good. You can put all kinds of filling inside like avacado, fish, carrots, egg, whatever!

Salsa Recipe

  • 3 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup finely diced onion
  • 5 serrano chiles, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons lime juice

Add all ingredients together. Season with chili powder and chili seeds. Feel
free to add extra onions because salsa cannot be too hot. I will try to put
some variations of this on here.

Cornbread Recipe

Here's one of my favorite recipe. It is cornbread. I make it every Friday to go with our soup and i thought i'd share it with you guys.
So here it goes.

Pizza Bagels

1.5 T. sugar
1. 5 t. salt
1 c water
3 C. flour
2 t. yeast
Set bread machine to dough. When done, take out and shape into doughnut shapes. (A circle with a circle shaped hole in the middle). Let them raise for 20 minutes. Then boil them in 3 qts of water plus 1t. sugar. Flip them over after 1 minute (so one minute on each side) Spread on each bagel some tomato sauce. Then put them on a cornmeal sprinkled tray and bake at 400 F for 10 minutes. Sprinkle cheese on the bagels and then bake for 10 more.

Glass Etching

For a pathfinder honor, i got to do glass etching. It's really fun. I'll show you some of my creations and then talk about the process. Okay so you'll need to go to the store and get some glass etching cream. The way that i did these two is i layed
a piece of contact paper onto the glass, and then took an exacto knife and cut out my pattern. Then i took out the parts that i wanted filled in and the parts that i didn't, and then poured the etching cream in. You'll have to wait a minute and then wash off the cream. Then you peel off the contact paper. The top one is the wolf and the other one says "I don't cook, I burn" with one of my stars.
