Healthy Snacks

Here are some really easy ideas for healthy snacks either for like a late nite snack, study snack, or car food snack. I thought about making this a post, but since the post would be down at the bottom of the page in a matter of a few days, i have decided to make it a page since i think this is one of the biggest contributes to weight gain, snacking!

1. Frozen grapes. Nothing is better for a cool down in the summer than eating a few frozen grapes. Just stick grapes in a container and freeze them. They are really nice and refreshing.

2. Nothing is more low calorie and healthy than celery. I mean really! You can eat 100 4 inch sticks and get 100 calories, that's how low it is in calories. Pretty cool huh??

3. I like to have on hand some cut up veggies in a glass dish like jicama, carrots, celery, red peppers, green peppers, and just veggies that are in season for fast grabs. The veggies that have crunch giv eyou the same crunch as chips would, with out the calories or fat!

4. 1 c. rice chex. I like to have this on the trail while hiking. It doesn't have much fat, calories, or sodium. To make them more seasoned, i like to put some onion powder on them. You can have chex mix but i have noticed that it can be covered in oil.

5. Dried apple. These are very nice for the car since they aren't sticky like apples but they still have the taste of apples Beware, just because they look smaller, doesn't mean they don't have the calories! Drying food does not take out the calories. You can eat a whole apple in dried apples and not even know it!

6. Watermelon Balls - I like to have watermelon balls in the freezer. Fruit freeze so well and taste so great in the heat of summer! Super super refreshing!

7. Snap Peas or Snow Peas - These little guys are so healthy and so good! Dip them in a bit of hummus or some kind of low calorie/low fat dip or sauce!
